|Shopping||A support worker can assist the service user to the local shops or into town, assisting with carrying shopping and putting away when they have returned home. Alternatively, a support worker can do more by helping to write a shopping list, going to the shops themselves to collect required shopping and putting away upon return. First Choice Home Care ensures any financial transactions are recorded and transparent through receipts and signed documents.|
|Personal Care||First Choice Home Care provides personal care assistance as requested by the individual, including bathing, showering, dressing, toileting, incontinence pad changes and specific health-related tasks. These tasks are provided with dignity and privacy at all times, which we know is very important|
|Medication||First Choice Home Care support and Care workers are able to assist with the prompting/reminding to take medications. They will be able to remove and give to service users any medication to be taken with a glass of water. Our care and support workers may only assist with medication that is in a blister pack or dosette box dispensed from a pharmacy or original prescribed medication packets.|
|Companionship||First Choice Home Care support and care workers can accompany a service user on outings or excursions. A visit may be arranged to just sit and talk or to motivate and include activities within the service user’s home.|
|Meals||First Choice Home Care support and care workers can prepare, cook and serve meals and beverage chosen by the service user. They may encourage eating and assist if necessary as an agreed part of the care plan. They will wash, wipe up, put away and empty bins.|
|Respite And Holiday Cover For Existing Care Givers||First Choice Home Care can provide support and care workers to assist with anything from 24 hour live-in service, to 1 hour per day/week to cover the much needed respite or holiday for the existing primary carer. This ensures peace of mind and maintains established routines.|
|Telephone Monitoring Service||First Choice Home Care office staff can make regular telephone calls to any service user at agreed times, as reminders for medication or other important events within daily lives as requested.|
|Appointments||First Choice care and support workers may accompany to the hospital, dentists, doctors, hairdressers or any other appointment.|
|Social Activities/Events||First Choice care and support worker may accompany swimming, walking or any other enjoyed outdoor activity of choice. They can accompany to theatres, pictures and other social events. We know it is important for service users to maintain their social activities, hobbies or interests so they can maintain a feeling of self-worth and active mind.|
|Dementia||First Choice Home Care has a specialist team of care and support workers who have received additional training in assisting service users with dementia. We understand the importance of routine and continuity in care. We focus on what people can do as opposed to what is no longer possible. We maintain excellent contact with existing support and other involved health care professionals.|
|Rising And Retiring||Our care and support workers can assist you with a helping head in the morning to get out of bed, incorporating personal care or breakfast to assisting with putting you to bed in the evening, closing curtains and leaving your property secure.|
